You sit down, pick a shade, and the work starts. Premium gels are used for every color, from barely-there nudes to glossy black, and the coats are kept thin so the finish looks natural instead of thick. It is a small service, but it is done with the same care as the big ones.

Who it is for

This service is ideal if your gel has grown out but your cuticles and skin still look good from a recent visit. It is also handy when a season changes and you want to trade summer brights for something darker, or when a holiday party or trip is coming and you want a new color fast.

It is a nice option for toes between full pedicures, too. If your feet are in good shape and you just want gel color that lasts through sandal season, a toe polish change gets you there in less time.

If your cuticles have overgrown, your nails need reshaping, or your feet need real attention, a full gel manicure or a pedicure is the better booking. Danielle will always tell you honestly if a polish change will not give you the result you want.

The Brazilian difference, even on a quick service

A shorter appointment does not mean sloppier work. Danielle still applies the Brazilian finishing details that make her clients' nails look so clean.

Any lifted dry skin is cleared from the nail surface so the new gel goes down smooth. Color is placed slightly under the cuticle line, so there is no visible gap at the base for about the first week of growth. And edges get the signature cleanup: painted slightly over, then cleaned back by hand with an orange-wood stick wrapped in cotton and dipped in remover before each cure.

With gel, clean edges are not just about looks. Gel that sits on the skin is more likely to lift, so the hand cleanup helps your new color last as well as it should.

What happens at your appointment

Tools are processed with medical-grade sterilization before each client. A polish change usually goes like this.

• Choose your new shade, or bring a photo for inspiration.
• Old gel is softened and gently removed, never peeled or scraped hard.
• Nails are lightly filed and the shape is tidied.
• The nail surface is cleaned and lightly prepped.
• Base gel, two thin coats of color and a glossy top coat, each cured.
• Edges are cleaned by hand between coats.
• Cuticle oil to finish.

Aftercare

Cured gel is dry the moment you leave, but your nails still benefit from a little care.

• Rub in cuticle oil every day to keep the skin around the gel soft.
• Use gloves for scrubbing, dishes and gardening.
• Do not peel or bite off gel; book a removal when it is time.
• For toes, wear roomy shoes for the rest of the day if you can.
• Let us know right away if an edge lifts early.

Pricing note

A gel polish change is $28 for hands or $28 for toes. Add chrome for $15 or ombre starting at $15. If you need the full Brazilian cuticle service with your gel, the gel manicure starting at $43 is the better choice.
