Nail Salon Sterilization Standards in Westlake
These are the nail salon sterilization standards we follow in our Westlake suite, written down so you know exactly what to expect before you sit in the chair. If you're searching for a clean nail salon near you, this page is our answer to the question of how clean is clean.

How are nail tools sterilized at Brazilian Nails By Danielle?
Every reusable metal implement goes through medical-grade sterilization before it touches a client. That includes nippers, cuticle pushers, clippers and any other metal tool used on hands or feet. Tools are scrubbed clean of debris first, then sterilized, then stored so they stay that way until your service begins.
There are no exceptions for a quick polish change or a short kids visit. The same process applies to every service, every client, every time. Our sterilization method: [CONFIRM STERILIZATION METHOD].
Sterilized tools stay closed up until they're needed, so they aren't sitting out collecting dust or getting handled between appointments. If a tool is dropped or touches anything other than your hands or feet, it's set aside and swapped for a fresh one.
Which nail salon items are single use?
Some items can't be sterilized because they're porous, like files, buffers and orange-wood sticks. Those are handled under a separate rule. Single-use items at our suite: [CONFIRM SINGLE-USE ITEMS].
Cotton, the wrapped orange-wood sticks used for Brazilian edge cleanup, and similar disposables are used on one client and then thrown away. Anything that isn't single use is either sterilized or set aside for one client only.
This matters most for Brazilian cuticle work. Because dry skin is cleared across the whole nail bed, the tools doing that job have to be fully sterilized, and the cotton-wrapped sticks that create the crisp edge are never reused.
How is the suite cleaned between clients?
Between appointments, the work surface, armrests, lamp, chair and any shared surface are wiped down with disinfectant and left wet for as long as the product directions call for. Disposables from the last visit are bagged and removed before the next person comes in.
Danielle washes her hands before every service, and you're welcome to wash yours too when you arrive.
Polish bottles and gel pots stay capped when they're not in use, which keeps dust out and odors down.
Are pedicures at your salon sanitary?
Pedicures are where many salons cut corners, so here is exactly how ours are set up. Pedicure setup and footbath cleaning: [CONFIRM PEDICURE SETUP].
Whatever soaks your feet is cleaned and disinfected after each client, never just rinsed and refilled. Callus tools that can't be sterilized are not shared between clients. Sober, Tipsy and Wasted pedicures all follow the same standard, whichever tier you book.
Does one client at a time make a salon cleaner?
It does in a practical way. When only one person is booked at a time, there's never a pile of tools waiting to be processed while the next client is already seated. The schedule has room for the reset, so cleaning doesn't get squeezed. There's also less traffic through the room, fewer surfaces being touched, and no dust drifting over from someone else's acrylic fill.
It also means your appointment isn't sharing space with a stranger who's under the weather, which matters to clients with young kids or older parents at home. You're the only client in the suite from start to finish.
What can I ask to see during my appointment?
You never need to take our word for it. At any appointment, you can ask to see the following.
Questions like these are welcome at any point during your visit, and you'll never get a defensive answer. A clean salon should be glad to show its work.
- Your metal implements opened at the start of your service.
- What happens to your file and buffer after the visit.
- How the pedicure soak was cleaned before you arrived.
- Our Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board license.
- The disinfectant we use on surfaces between clients.
Is Danielle licensed by the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board?
Nail technicians and salons in Ohio are licensed through the Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board. Our license number is [LICENSE NUMBER], and you can look it up through the state's online license search.
House calls get the same treatment. Implements travel already sterilized, and the portable setup is disinfected before and after each home visit.
Licensing means the state sets training and sanitation requirements for nail professionals, and we treat those rules as the floor, not the ceiling.
When will we reschedule for your safety?
Sometimes the cleanest choice is to wait. If you arrive with signs of a nail or skin infection, an open wound near the nails, or a rash on the area being worked on, Danielle may ask to reschedule rather than risk making it worse. It's never about being difficult. It's about protecting you and every client who sits in the chair after you.
Not sure whether something on your hands or feet should keep you from booking? Text a photo to (216) 260-4488 before your appointment and we'll let you know. If a health issue means moving your visit, tell us early and we'll help you find a new time.
