Why Elyria clients drive east for their nails

Elyria is the county seat of Lorain County, with its courthouse and Ely Square downtown, Lorain County Community College on the north side, and Midway Mall drawing shoppers off Route 57. There are plenty of nail places in town, mostly built around volume and walk-ins.

The drive from Elyria to Westlake

From most of Elyria, the quickest route is Route 57 north to I-90, then east through Sheffield and Avon into Westlake. Take the Crocker-Bassett exit and you are in the Crocker Park area, right by the suite.

If you live on the east side of town, Route 2 and I-90 run together for much of the way, so you may pick up the highway even sooner. Clients who prefer back roads sometimes take Center Ridge Road east through North Ridgeville instead, especially on summer evenings.

Since it is a bit of a trip, many Elyria clients book their nails on a day when they are already heading east, whether that is for work, a doctor's visit or shopping at Crocker Park. Book your next appointment before you leave and the trip becomes part of your routine.

What the Brazilian method does differently

Danielle was raised around Brazil's salon traditions before relocating to the U.S. in 2017. The technique she brings is centered on the cuticle area, and it is the main reason clients from farther out make the drive.

She removes the dry skin on the full nail bed rather than simply pushing the cuticle back. Then polish is set just below the cuticle line, so you will not see a bare gap at the base for about the first week. Last, the edges are painted over and cleaned back with an orange-wood stick wrapped in cotton and dipped in remover. Clients often say their nails look neater on day ten than a typical manicure looks on day two.

Between appointments, each metal tool goes through medical-grade sterilization. Builder gel is Luminary Nail Systems Multi-Flex, and polishes and gels are premium lines.
